Chess and Chess Sets

Hello, my name is Fred S. and I have published a web site featuring chess sets, and, when I started I had no idea how to play chess!  I am a backgammon player; however, because the web site has been so successful, and, mainly, because my 9 year old grandson has just signed up for a class on chess, I have become absolutely fascinated with this game!  I have searched Wikipedia on the fundamentals of this game, but, I need some input from actual players of the game; from what I have been reading the past month of so, there seems to be just a few accepted opening moves; does everyone, or, anyone, concur with that statement?  Or, would anyone/everyone suggest I just START PLAYING, with the guide by my side? I know in backgammon there are set moves for particular opening roll of the dice; I am perceiving that is not so in chess; any feedback would be greatly appreciated. visit us @chessdifferentsets.com

Chess and Chess Sets

As the learning process is proceeding ever so slowly, I got a tip: try playing or starting the game with just the 8 pawns, the King, and, have the 2 rooks on the side of the board and try the moves without the other chess pieces!  My 8 year old grandson I know is waiting, but, won't even attempt a game at this early stage.

Any other tips would be appreciated, and, of course, please visit us @ http://www.chessdifferentsets.com/
